Description
The PowerBook G4 (15” FW800) brought the new aluminum case found in the PowerBook G4 12” and 17” models to the popular 15” size. It was available in two configurations. The configuration running at 1.0Ghz had a 60Gb hard drive, 256Mb of RAM and a Combo drive. The configuration running at 1.25Ghz had an 80Gb hard drive, 512Mb of RAM and a SuperDrive. Both configurations featured FireWire 800 and the 1.25Ghz configuration included an AirPort Extreme card and an illuminated keyboard.
History
Released eight months after the aluminum PowerBook G4s in 12” and 17”, the release of the 15” FW800 model was widely anticipated. The 1.0Ghz configuration sold for $1,999 and the 1.25Ghz configuration sold for $2,599.

Timeline
Introduced in September 2003, the PowerBook G4 (15” FW800) was discontinued to make way for new models in April 2004.
Comments
The initial design of the PowerBook G4s was developed by Apple hardware designers Jory Bell, Nick Merz, and Danny Delulis. The ODM Quanta also helped in the design. The new machine was a sharp departure from the black plastic, curvilinear PowerBook G3 models that preceded it. -Any Lab Test Now Franchise
